Nearly 8 million people visited museums and ruins There are 212 museums and 144 archaeological sites under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Every day, thousands of people from home and abroad fall on these addresses. The museum and its ruins have welcomed close to 8 million visitors since the beginning of 2023. The fertile lands of Anatolia have embraced different civilizations for centuries. Countless historical monuments and structures have remained from past to present. All these cultural riches are preserved and transferred to the future. In museums and ruins, the historical heritage is not only taken under protection, but also opened to visitors. As of May 2023, there are 212 museums and 144 archaeological sites in Turkey under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums. Museums and ruins are flooded with millions of local and foreign visitors every year. From the beginning of 2023 to May alone, 7 million 986 thousand 209 people were hosted at these cultural stops. As of the end of 2022, museums and ruins affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism were visited by 30 million 932 thousand 948 people. In 2021, 17 million 65 thousand 386, in 2020, when there was a coronavirus outbreak, 8 million 918 thousand 950 and in 2019, 35 million 48 thousand 417 people fell on the roads of museums and ruins.
