Ford has made lithium agreements to be used in the production of electric vehicles Automaker Ford Motor has entered into supply agreements with Albemarle and Nemaska Lithium for battery raw materials as part of its plans to ramp up electric vehicle production. Albemarle announced in a statement that it has reached an agreement with Ford to provide lithium hydroxide to support the production of electric vehicles. The company will supply lithium hydroxide for about 3 million Ford electric vehicle batteries, the statement said, adding that the 5-year supply agreement will start in 2026 and last until 2030. Albemarle and Ford have committed to supplying lithium hydroxide produced locally in the country or originating in a country with which it has a U.S. Free Trade Agreement is reported, the statement said. Nemaska Lithium said in a statement that it has reached an 11-year agreement with Ford for the supply of lithium products.
